Courtney has decided to enter the world of cycling. So last saturday we went out bike shopping. She tried out probably 10 bikes. We were able to narrow it down to 3 models. And while the final choice will be up to courtney...i kinda liked the "put it to a vote idea"
Now we understand that comfort and preformance are the first priorities, however as the one of the Contender Bikes salesmen said: "you want a bike that looks sexy, so that when you get home from work you see it there and think.'ohhhh, i want to ride that.'" So bellow are Courtney's 3 favorite thus far. Let us know which you like the most.
Orbea Aqua Dama
Orbea Lobular
Trek WSD 2.1

TREK. Can't tell you why but I think that the Orbeas are overrated. Actually with those options you can't really go wrong.
I know nothing about bikes... (nerd alert) um, but I think the red one is pretty.
i am glad you went to contender... my cousins own the store. given that, i should probably know something about bikes but i dont'm sorry
I agree with Barb. But, red's my favorite color so it will always win.
We went to both Contender and Guthrie! Both fantastic stores! The bikes pictured represent both stores! May the sexiest bike win!
It doesn't matter if you win or lose, and it doesn't matter how you play the game . . . it's HOW YOU LOOK! I would prefer pink with a basket.
all good choices. so in an effort to completely confuse the selection process here's some random mumbling on the subject: trek has always put together great bikes (especially great frames), the wheels on the wsd 2.1 are nice - i have a bontrager wheelset and really like it. the orbea frames I've seen and briefly taken for a spin are also well built, and the components they're using on the aqua dama are a level up from what trek has on the wsd 2.1, although the difference will be pretty minor. the aqua dama wheels aren't quite as nice as what is on the trek (mavic asyriums...i have a pair that i've beaten up and they still work great) but good wheels all the same.
the real question to ask yourself is this - when you have beaten your poor husband to the top of emigration canyon, and you're taking that celebratory photo of yourself with your cell phone camera for later trash talk usage...what color bike do you want to have in the photo?
One thing I just noticed about the spec on WSD 2.1 according to the Trek website is that it comes with 650c wheels.
In my opinion if you can fit comfortably on a bike with 700c wheels you'll be a lot better off.
Everybody else is riding on 700c wheels, so you'll have an easier time finding new tires, with a lot bigger selection, on group rides you'll can share tubes, or have tubes given to you when flats happen.
Unless there is a comfort difference, I would avoid the 650c wheels on either Trek or the Orbea.
Oh how we need to hang out. Scott and Steve would get along so well! Steve is obsessed with bikes and everything that goes with it. He is also going to do Lotoja and is trying to convince me to train with him. (yeah right) Talk to Steve or I will need to let him read your blog.
